The Purpose of Using Nitrogen During the IVF & Stem Cells Process

During the IVF (In Vetro Fertilization) process and incubator is used to protect and culture an embryo, potentially to the point in which it can be transplanted and hopefully result in pregnancy.

In order to work to their full potential incubator oxygen levels are crucial and maintaining a reduced oxygen level within the embryonic incubator is vital to sustaining the embryo inside. In order to reduce the level of the oxygen within the incubator, a consistent and steady steam of nitrogen gas is injected into the incubators atmosphere and is meticulously monitored to achieve the correct rate required.

So how does a Nitrogen Generator Benefit IVF Incubators?

An onsite nitrogen generator is highly beneficial to embryonic incubators facilities for IVF treatments. Nitrogen generators have the capability to produce high purity nitrogen constantly from the surrounding air with the added benefit of their being little to no chance of the facility potentially running out of nitrogen gas, which is a risk that comes with using nitrogen gas cylinders. The need for a constant steam of nitrogen is essential during the IVF process particularly during the aforementioned stage of development and having a reliable nitrogen generator on-site can ensure that the incubators oxygen levels are always consistent.

But Why Nitrogen Gas?

During the IVF process, doctors and lab technicians attempt to recreate the conditions of the fallopian tubes and uterus of a fertile female to the best of their abilities. However unlike the surrounding air that human beings breather in daily, which consists of 20% oxygen, the conditions required for a successful embryonic culture requires only 5% oxygen.

By introducing pure nitrogen into the incubators the oxygen levels can be controlled to a certain level without the worry of harming the sensitive embryo inside and the best way to meet such specific O2 levels is to introduce a constant supply of controlled nitrogen to displace the oxygen molecules and preserve the atmosphere through a nitrogen generator.
